Has anyone else ever experienced this..no matter where you go, what you wear, someone is ALWAYS staring you down and trying to just be like you? What is it about a certain person that makes them so desirable to imitate? Can someone please tell me?
In my early years, I was plagued by girls in high school hating on me, only to go and mimick what I had, 1 day later, 1 month later, or even, yes, YEARS later. I kid you not...I had one "friend" all throughout high school and college, who suddenly caught up to my high school style post attaining bachelor's degrees. I still remember it like it was yesterday- her sense of accomplishment when she came up to me and presented what her boyfriend got her- all brands which I started wearing 10 years earlier. Did I have such a profound effect on this girl that she spent most of her adult life wishing to be more like me? Little did I know that she also secretly hated me..that came out later.
As if that wasn't enough, I can name tons more through high school and college, but the most bizarre afflictions have been those of female bosses that I have had. I had one boss, who was at least 10 years older than me come in one day, give me the up and down and said "You think you're cute don't you, in your boots and skirt? I used to dress like you, just wait 'til you're married." The next day, this whack-job rolls into work wearing an outdated pair of knee boots and an A-line skirt, a paltry attempt at being more like me, and as she said "cute." If what I was doing was so bad....why did she feel the need to run home, look through her attic and do the same. Not only was it obvious that she was copying me, she came up to me triumphantly and said "see I can do it to." I no longer work there.
At my current place of employment, the same situation has cropped up yet again. I have a new female manager, who is 10 years my senior. In the beginning we had quite divergent styles, and now all of a sudden, she needs a run down of where I shop, and compares with me. She started wearing the same exact things as me and tries to act like we are the same age. Granted, her immitation has not been as offensive as the prior, but it is still annoying as all hell.
I hope that all this imitation will land me some kind of modeling endorsement or something, because, apparently I must be on to something and last by not least-
THEY WANT WHAT I HAVE.

Current Read List- Taming the Tiger Within
What to read, what to read?
On the top of my reading list right now is "Taming the Tiger Within" by the famed Buddhist Monk and spriritual teacher, Tich Nhat Hahn. It's a compilation of meditations on how to deal with difficult emotions such as anger, that can crop up from just about anything. It really does have a calming effect, I recommend reading it in silence. The book tries to teach you how to express your anger without perpetuating it, which in effect just leads to more suffering and anger. It may take a while to practice this, but it's definitely a quick read that I found to be worthwhile. If you are facing any kind of difficult emotions, be it stress at work, an unhappy relationship, or general discontent, try this book!
I have a couple of other books in my que right now, and will post them shortly. Tich Nhat Hahn is great!

The Battle Against that Unwanted Hair!
Ladies...we all deal with it..the waxing, the plucking, the tweezing, the threading. It is just exhuasting!!! You know what I'm talking about- the monthly waxing appointments that you dread going to..is there ever an end to the cycle? We all thought it would grow less and less the more we did it, per our torture inducing waxer...but, no such luck. It faithfully always comes back.
At long last, I can to the conclusion to try a "less painful," more permanent method. No, I'm not talking electrolysis, that's tried and true, but everyone knows it's PAINFUL. I got sucked into the laser craze. I have to admit, they are great at advertising. I see ads for it in the free newspaper I get before my morning commute..and now, some laser centers have been so kind as to add a pop up to anything I watch on youtube!
"Win $5,000 of free laser hair removal"
Sounds great, right? Sign me up!
I took the plunge about 2 months ago after being doggedly pursued by a laser center claiming I won $300 towards treatment (as if that even cover half an area). I'm having a few areas treated, and let me tell you, this stuff HURTS!! Now I'm stuck with this contract, with financing, for the next 18 months!
Let me give you the low down on it. I went to get my lower legs done, thinking this will be a piece of cake. WRONG. This hurt so bad, that I thought I was getting tasered or something. With each beep, I thought I was going to die lying on this treatment table under the brightest lights I've ever seen in my life. Waxing is a little different, yes, it hurts, but it addresses a large area of growth at a time. Laser, not so much. It's basically a gun with an inch of laser attacking your follicles. It's a slight upgrade from electrolysis, but not too quick and ouchless. You can even smell burning sometimes..I'm telling you, this is no joke. I literally go to each appointment with dread, knowing that it's about to hurt and be hot..don't forget..the laser is HOT too.
I'll get into more detail about what each treatment entails and will keep you posted on the progression.
